Sigonella Community Choir
2018 Winter Season
Let's Bring Sigonella Community Together Through Singing!
Sigonella Community Choir
Looking for a great way to connect with new people and make a new friends? Want to learn singing and improve vocal skills with award winning vocal coach/choir/orchestra conductor? Look no further, join the Choir! Alma's Vocal Academy is offering a NEW CHOIR for the Sigonella Community!
Families of service personnel move around frequently and it is tough to put down roots, make new friends and get to know people in the local community. Add to that the stresses and strains of loved ones being deployed away from home, often for long periods, and life can have its challenges.
But by coming together to sing in the choir creates a valuable support network for women and man in the military community.
Choir members can help one another through the tough times, celebrate the good times and sing through it all, together!
Sigonella Community Choir will provide a unique COMREL (Community relations) opportunity for sailors and their family members to share the Christmas spirit with the Sicilian communities. Choir is already invited to perform in churches and venues. Service members and their family members can also get LOAs certifying volunteer hours!
Choir is open to EVERYONE over 18 years of age (14 years of age if accompanied by an adult and voice has matured). Come along and join us.
Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 18:00-20:00.
Starting from 31st October till December 19th at NAS 1 Chapel sanctuary.
(Bring a bottle of water with you).

BENEFITS OF BEING IN THE CHOIR:
1. Singing brings great joy to people but it also has many other benefits!
2. Emotional Benefits
As well as increasing confidence, singing makes you happy! It relieves stress and releases endorphins, which make you feel good. One of the greatest benefits of singing is the constant use of the ‘memory muscle’ and the ability to improve mental concentration and memory.
3. Physical Benefits
Singing also has physical benefits; the deep breathing used when singing helps to exercise the lungs, strengthen the diaphragm and improves circulation. Improved posture is also another benefit as standing straight is part of good singing technique which will eventually become routine. Studies have also shown that singing can boost the immune system and help with sleep.
4. Social Benefits
Singing as part of a choir has great social benefits as you are able to make new friends with others who enjoy music and singing. Group singing brings people together and is great for bonding. Studies have shown that people who sing in choirs are more connected to one another than those participating in other classes.
5. Tuition is Free!
